Hi all!
How've u been?
I went to bangkok on wed, just for a short trip.
like a really really short trip.
morning go evening come back.
dad and nick wanted to go to the 4-face buddha again, so i kinda tagged along for a short trip.
wake up at 6am.
left house at 7am.
anyway, i spent the previous day at gwei's place, and had lunch n dinner there. i ate quite a lot of veggies, and hence, i'm sure u know what veggies do to ur bowel system.
unfortunately, that had to happen at a rather inconvenient time. on the way to the airport, i had a stomachache in nick's car. bo pian, tahan loh.
reached terminal 1, we checked in and went thru the 1st gate. i diverged from our path momentarily, i simply had to answer nature's call and could delay no longer.
peace.
and after that, i had a cuppa coffee with my old man as we witnessed nick gobble down a rather unappetizing plate of wanton mee.
flight was at 9plus, so by the time we took our time to jalan jalan and bought some reading material to pass the time, it was soon time for our flight.
2 hours.
whoosh.
jetstar asia still has one of the more comfortable seats ever.
better even than the ones in sia i must add, but of cos, sia economy class la. i no $ to take any higher class. d'oh.
reached bangkok, realised that it was a new airport in fact, one that was so much nearer to the city than b4. and it was huge. but the interior designing was appaling. plain concrete ceiling, no covering up, lots and lots of glass panals and windows. so much metal everywhere.
so cold.
sigh.
anyway, it was a 45 min drive to the bustling city, where we dropped at the Hyatt hotel. not to stay la, just wash up only. kekeke.
rather convenient actually, the 4-face buddha was actually next the the hotel. so after this and that, we went to MBK center for a snack and shopping.
MBK or Mah Boon Kong (sumthing like that) was kinda like a big pasar malam shopping center in bangkok.
so we had a small bowl of thai beef noodles, this is a must try for any1 visiting bangkok, the soup, and even the beehoon and kuey teow texture are different.
and we had some time after that, so we walking arnd the place a bit. gewi wanted me to buy some snacks for her, so i got her some jackfruit chips, love letters filled with pork floss, and a pack of freeze-fried vacuumed pack durian for her to try.
apparrantly, it appealed to her mum more than it did to her.
so after some walking arnd, we headed for lunch. nick and my old man wanted to bring me to this place where the goose meat was supposedly better than the ones in sg.
spot on right.
the goose meat was so juicy and tender, and was stewed to long that the bone marrow just slips out for u. mmmmmmm.
yummers.
we headed back to the airport after that for our flight back, 745 flight, so must check in at 545. so, as usual, we always look at the board for the check in counter details.
flight cancelled.
what the knncb pu bor lj!
wtf were we supposed to do now.
nvm, we headed to the jetstar office nearby to enquire.
in broken english, we learnt from the staff that the plane had some mechanical problems, and our flight was delayed.
not cancelled.
but the board still reflected status cancelled, despite putting some flights as delayed as well.
delayed till 945 by the way.
so we had a 4 hour wait.
imagine out joy.
and since we cant check in till 745, we had absolutely nothing to do outside the gates for 2 hours.
imagine our real joy when we saw a dining corner with a bar.
beer anyone?
so it came to pass that we clearly had to drink slowly so as to last the 2 hours.
we, didnt drink slowly.
b4 i knew it, we each had already downed 4 beers (3 bottles and 1 can) each.
goodness.
all the while talking cock and chatting, mostly abt my dad's old ex-paikia days and his goof antics with his brothers.
ha.
745 came and we rushed to check in.
after rushing, we had another 2 hours.
great.
so after the beers, we felt kinda hungry. so we wanted to eat something fast and good. we saw a burger king sign up ahead, so why not?
i'll tell u why not.
when we reached, the whole place was packed like a can of sardines. and the queues were horrible.
next....
so my dad and i shared a small pizza whereas nick had a plate of chicken curry and rice.
all that of cos, with a bottle of beer each.
after what seemed like next to eternity, we finally boarded the flight.
detail of the flight itself are hazy and disconnected, due to the 3 of us drifting in and out of sleep.
and FINALLY, at 1130, we reached home.
knockout....
went to vivo city yesterday, me and gewi watched pan's labyrinth.
its a really really nice show.
magical, sad, believable if u must, all made even more wondrous by the spanish language spoken in the whole of the film.
=)
