another day, another blog post.
dear readers, i'm gonna talk about a particular type of situation one must always inevitably face, sooner or later, some more than others, the one we call Catch-22.
Catch-22 is certainly an odd name for one of life's happenings. i can't exactly explain why its termed as such, but i'll update this post once i know. =)
Alright, now, to
rant elaborate on Catch-22. What is Catch-22?
well, to simply put it, Catch-22 is a kind of decision/choice that u may have to make or call once in a while, like every other decision/choice. except that in Catch-22's situation, it's not a win-lose, it's a lose-lose.
Huh?
anyone watched the trailer for the new jack neo movie? Just Follow Law, the one with fann wong and gurmit singh. listen to the indian security guard.
*indian accent*
"last time i never follow rule, kena scolding. now i follow, also kena scolding."
that, is Catch-22.
so what is it about Catch-22 that makes us tick?
well, imagine losing out in both situations regardless of the choice u make. frustrating isn't it?
when u have to make a choice or take a stand but knowing that in doing so, u've served yourself a plate of jialat on a sliver platter, regardless of what u've chosen.
Catch-22 is a part of everyday life, whether we choose to siam or not.
the choice of choosing to make your stand in an argument and stand up for your rights, knowing that u'd be in deeper shit, instead of biting your lip and accepting the shit being dishing out at u. u still get shit no matter which.
the choice of accepting a loss, to realise and regret, or chosing to be in denial and fight against the loss. it's still a loss.
or the choice to tell your partner the truth about something, knowing that the truth may hurt, but it's the truth, and that no matter how u put it or reassure, it will still hurt.. instead of pushing that thought away from your mind, lying and denying it, and have it gnaw at the back of your head until it reaches boiling point.
The choices we make in our lives, some of them may be clear-cut, some not.
Catch-22 always appears in our lives, whether we like it or not.
I hate Catch-22 situations.
but it's a part of life. what can we do but to hope to ourselves that we may make the better choice when we have to, and to make the best of it as possibly can.

Merry Xmas every1! =D
how were ur hols?
i had a balanced experience actually, xmas eve lunch was held at my place this year, and it was like a gathering for the people from my mum's side of the family. i'm not gonna say much here, i dun wear a cape and the letters "SB" (Super Bitch) on my shirt, but basically, i'll just say that they aren't my favourite side of the family and leave it at that. my dogs were traumatised and driven mad by the 3 kids that came. poor them, with the kids carrying them by their stomachs and snatching them from each other, shouting at them and chasing them around the house. i kinda wish my dogs would snap and start biting the kids but they didnt. ah well. at least that would have made my smas happier on that side. ok, moving on to more happy details.
xmas dinner eve was spent at my uncle's place, with mike and berenice, jamie and hwee peng and my 3 nephews and niece, my younger cousins.. every1 liked the presents i gave them, and i'm quite proud of myself for choosing the right pressies for everybody. headed off to meet gewi and her family at her church for xmas mass, 2nd time i've done that actually, last time was last xmas. interesting experience, cos the only masses and church events i ever attended were the ones held back in SJI and they were kinda short and brief, so i didnt get to actually see and experience the whole thing. oh, and besides the times i went when my nephews got baptised. mass ended at 130 i think, me and g headed over to leonard's place after that for a quick makan, g played mahjong, while i tried to take a nap in futile a mere 1.5 meters away from the mahjong table. heh..
ok xmas day! g came over for lunch, and we had porridge. my dad took the ham bone from the dinner the night b4 and used it to cook with his porridge. Cuttlefish and mince meat porridge! yum.
we took a nap, cos we were sleep depraved, and we went to della's place for xmas dinner.. got to see simeon, the fella's still in ns (hang in there man!) and also got to see charlene too, who came along with della to bris during the exam period. the food was great! della says on her blog that it wasnt that good but it actually was.. the ham was tender and juicy, and so was the turkey.. better than the one i had at my uncle's place actually kekeke. and the beehoon was fried with bamboo shoots inside! whee.. another fav of mine. some of the guests didnt like the taste/smell, all the better for me muahaha..
in conclusion, xmas was good, and we, who are able to celebrate and enjoy christmas together, are truly blessed..
ok, me and g watched 2 movies yest, haha, the 1st was Charlotte's Web.
so.... sad! T_T
the story was so so nice, and the voice talents were great.. julia roberts did a wonderful job as charlotte..
teared a few times in the cinema, and i wanted to bawl out so much at times. but, since people next to, behind or in front of me would then think i'm some kinda weirdo who likes to make noise in cinema (look at yourself u morons who talk on phones blatantly out loud during the show "I'm watching movie! hah?! cannot hear u! i call u later!" or talk out to ur friends "eh, this fella confirm die one la, pai kia where can win wan!"), i held in my left hand, the umbrella and kept quiet..
hahahahahaha
the show ended at 830 so we rushed to cartel for ribs and gobbled up our dinner to catch the 930 show, Night at the Museum.. that, was another good comedy from ben stiller. plot a lil predictable, but funny nevertheless.
okay gonna leave it at that,
and see u guys later!
tag at the new board pls, =)

Hi all!
sorry for the long wait in updating my bloggie..
it takes time and patience to finally upload my pictures on photobucket..
so.
the hols.
what can i say, it was a blast..
new zealand was prob the highlight of the trip, with our whacky adventures and death-defying stunts..
First off, the various activities we did on our hol trip!
2nd day there already go skydiving! siao on right...
here's a few pics of our skydiving adventure..
getting prepped and geared by my tandem skydiving instructor Peter Lee, a fellow Singapoleangetting briefed and told "its ok la"a pic before we boarded the planelast minute adjustments and reassurance that i wont end up as a nice little red spot on the green pastures belowGewi jumps!and now its my turn! woohoo...and the best pic of allafter we whumped thru the clouds, Peter opened the parachute and we floated back to the ground
a view from the top after the cloudsVictory!"and we were like whoa!the dude and iThe conquerors and the certs to prove itok la, a more happy facewe visited the kiwi farm! those cute little buggers.. with their fur-like feathers and small beady eyes and round bodies and long scrawny beak.. makes u want to hold them in your hand in a vice-like grip and keep all the cuteness in the plam of your hand forever..
but we werent allowed to touch them so ah well, too bad..
and we went zorbing next! Big Big Ball! and the 3 of us, me gewi and sam, crammed into the giant ball and had some water filled in as well..
oooo... rolling down hill..
and we kept rollin rollin rollin..
eh, nice feeling ok.. for me i guess.. i didnt drink any water like sam or got a heel in my mouth like G.. kekeke
no photos cos the cd with sam. will update this area soon.
and we finally did white water rafting.. nice, tranquil water (ok, tranquil for only ten mins), cold, freezing, refreshing water.. it didnt matter at all if it splashed onto our faces amidst the fast churning rapids, cos its all spring water, and the scenery was so so good.. too bad we didnt have a camera with us, it'd be sponge full of water by the time we finished..
again, photos with sam. area under construction.
melbourne and sydney were all sight-seeing and scenery, rather boring compared to the nz part of the hols but interesting nevertheless..
we visited a lavender farm, 2 vineyards and passed by a storlebelly farm in mel, then in sydney, we went to paddy's market (a gigantic pasar malam), and went to the zoo..
lotsa interesting animals there, with them koalas and kangas, emus and crocs.. the pictures tell all..
Channel 7 news!SBS news!horse carraiges, too ex to ride but never too ex to take free picsour shadows, from left; doro, me, gewi, uncle samthis pic was taken as the tram was heading into my face, lucky can siam in timeUnilodge Melbourne!Beware, coming to a cinema near u, as refreshmentsChannel Ten!Welcome to the pirated unofficial Chomp Chomp branch in Mel, where everything is 4 times the price in sgand welcome to breadtop! pirated breadtalk, lola pic of the vineyard we visitedthe sydney bridge!and the Opera house, where the finals of Aussie Idol 06 was held a mere 2 weekends agosydney opera house toilet, heeheei cant remember the name of this monument but its kinda nicethe bridge at nightand the opera house zoomed in from the previous pic's bottom righta birdie on the top of the sydney fish market buildingpawwot! either its smiling or it wants to break the bars of the cage and peck at us till we die, i choose the formeremu, big big emu, with big big eyesand here's a big feht lazy wombatpigeons and their mating callsthe kanga and emu fighting over the kanga snack gewi gave themCrikey!and the next best part of the trip, FOOD.
we went to Wildfire restaurant in Auckland, where we had the most meat we ever had in a single meal.. its a buffet thing, we had a fixed serving of salad, stewed veges, rice, rosemary potats, but the waiters come round with skewers of meat and they carve slices for u as they come along.. my goodness. there was, chicken drumsticks, calamari, sausages, beef, lamb, veal, pork ribs, pork slices, beef ribs...
oh. the sheer glory of meat. but it was an overdose. the next day pangsai very smiaolee.
in rotarua, we visited Lone Star in the city, apparantly famous for their Black Angus beef. alright, so sam and i decided to give it a try.
G ordered pork ribs.. interesting choice, made even more interesting when her food arrived, with the ribs stacked as u would to a campfire firewood place, mountain high kinda thing. haha! sam and i couldnt stop laughing, at the skyscraper of ribs or at G's big wide eyes..
well, the beef was alright i guess, we werent used to the taste, it was a little charred on the outside, and it kinda smelt like wet cow. a little gross now that i think of it. but still, an experience nontheless.
in melbourne, we had a dinner at an italian place, not too bad, but the highlight was the chocolate cafe we dropped by after that. Koko Black. by black they mean the chocs they make contain 74% cocoa. nice nice chocs. lots of it. loads. i had a white choc mint ice cream with choc fudge in the side. and i had to pour all the fudge onto the icecream and as all things obey the 2nd (2nd? correct or not ah?) law of Thermodynamics, had its heat abaorbed by the icecream and became a hard choc armor on my dessert. genius. but i had great liquer coffee! nice.. smooth.. caffiene and alcohol. ones makes me smiley, one makes me alert. ask me to do the face sometime.
then, the next day, we finally had good authentic chinese food! simple stuff, but very much gratifying and satisfying..
last, in sydney, we went to the famous sydney fish market! woohoo... fresh scrumptiuos giant seafood for wonderful prices... oysters, prawns, lobster, codfish, whitebait, clamari, octopus.. mmmmmmmmmmmmmm...
we also had a rather nice bowl of ramen. =)
wishing upon a chocolate star indeed.. a nice smooth dark chocolate star... mmmmm....choc elves and choc snata!koko black choc, with 74% cocoa, if u cant see the label, its kinda small, whoops.from left; choc ice cream, mocha coffee, hazelnut liquer coffee, white choc mint ice creamour 1st real chinese meal in a sem!grilled seafood platter! woohoo! grilled baby octopus, fried whitebait fish, grilled prawns, oysters, and a huge fish steakhalf lobster, prawns and oystersfried seafood platter with grilled baby octopus, fried calamari rings, fish, oysters, crabsticks and prawnslast stop, back to brisbane.. G's dad picked us up from the airport, and her mom cooked dinner.. no pics of that tho.
then it was off to bed! Sam, i swear it was not my intention to roll in my sleep and have our faces end up a mere 5cm away from each other. i also swear that my hand slapping your hip, was not to grab u but to just push myself away.
We went surfing the next day! whee.... at surfer's paradise.. nice cool waters... smooth sand.. and the waves, whoa, i tell u. walk 10 steps, kena push back 20. tee-eye-arr-eye-anne-gee.
it was a 2 hour lesson, that came with a gaurantee that we would be able to stand on the surfboards on the waves by the end of the lesson. skeptical cam and i swam, paddled, and we managed to first ride the wave on the boards..
then... finally, as the lesson almost ended, we were able to stand on the boards! woohoo! pics at Gewi's site tho. navigate there yourself.
another achievement from the hols...
we got home tired, bruised and butt-sandied..
sam, i did not try to hug u as a bolster consciously, i swear!
and now i m back in sg..
fell sick the night i got back, but its gone alrd, stupid sg weather.
went to watch The Holiday on fri aft with gewi, it was sooooooooooo nice!
jude law and cameron diaz were hot and sizzling, and jack black and kate winslet were kooky and hilarious.
2 thumbs up for this show, its another great holiday festive love show.
guess who i saw before the show? Koustav! that man bitch... i mean it in an affectionate way.
and i went to watch Casino Royale at night with my old man.
Craig was good in his role, and the movie was a blockbuster, or to those who've already watched, perhaps the term 'ballbuster' would be better? haha!
and i met eugene from yj at vivocity too..
all in all, i'm exhausted from all the typing.
till later and till i get the rest of the missing pics, ta blog!
=)
