Hi all!
How've u been?
I went to bangkok on wed, just for a short trip.

like a really really short trip.

morning go evening come back.

dad and nick wanted to go to the 4-face buddha again, so i kinda tagged along for a short trip.

wake up at 6am.
left house at 7am.

anyway, i spent the previous day at gwei's place, and had lunch n dinner there. i ate quite a lot of veggies, and hence, i'm sure u know what veggies do to ur bowel system.
unfortunately, that had to happen at a rather inconvenient time. on the way to the airport, i had a stomachache in nick's car. bo pian, tahan loh.

reached terminal 1, we checked in and went thru the 1st gate. i diverged from our path momentarily, i simply had to answer nature's call and could delay no longer.

peace.

and after that, i had a cuppa coffee with my old man as we witnessed nick gobble down a rather unappetizing plate of wanton mee.

flight was at 9plus, so by the time we took our time to jalan jalan and bought some reading material to pass the time, it was soon time for our flight.

2 hours.
whoosh.
jetstar asia still has one of the more comfortable seats ever.
better even than the ones in sia i must add, but of cos, sia economy class la. i no $ to take any higher class. d'oh.

reached bangkok, realised that it was a new airport in fact, one that was so much nearer to the city than b4. and it was huge. but the interior designing was appaling. plain concrete ceiling, no covering up, lots and lots of glass panals and windows. so much metal everywhere.

so cold.
sigh.

anyway, it was a 45 min drive to the bustling city, where we dropped at the Hyatt hotel. not to stay la, just wash up only. kekeke.
rather convenient actually, the 4-face buddha was actually next the the hotel. so after this and that, we went to MBK center for a snack and shopping.
MBK or Mah Boon Kong (sumthing like that) was kinda like a big pasar malam shopping center in bangkok.
so we had a small bowl of thai beef noodles, this is a must try for any1 visiting bangkok, the soup, and even the beehoon and kuey teow texture are different.
and we had some time after that, so we walking arnd the place a bit. gewi wanted me to buy some snacks for her, so i got her some jackfruit chips, love letters filled with pork floss, and a pack of freeze-fried vacuumed pack durian for her to try.

apparrantly, it appealed to her mum more than it did to her.

so after some walking arnd, we headed for lunch. nick and my old man wanted to bring me to this place where the goose meat was supposedly better than the ones in sg.

spot on right.

the goose meat was so juicy and tender, and was stewed to long that the bone marrow just slips out for u. mmmmmmm.

yummers.

we headed back to the airport after that for our flight back, 745 flight, so must check in at 545. so, as usual, we always look at the board for the check in counter details.

flight cancelled.

what the knncb pu bor lj!
wtf were we supposed to do now.

nvm, we headed to the jetstar office nearby to enquire.
in broken english, we learnt from the staff that the plane had some mechanical problems, and our flight was delayed.
not cancelled.

but the board still reflected status cancelled, despite putting some flights as delayed as well.

delayed till 945 by the way.

so we had a 4 hour wait.
imagine out joy.

and since we cant check in till 745, we had absolutely nothing to do outside the gates for 2 hours.
imagine our real joy when we saw a dining corner with a bar.

beer anyone?

so it came to pass that we clearly had to drink slowly so as to last the 2 hours.
we, didnt drink slowly.
b4 i knew it, we each had already downed 4 beers (3 bottles and 1 can) each.
goodness.
all the while talking cock and chatting, mostly abt my dad's old ex-paikia days and his goof antics with his brothers.
ha.
745 came and we rushed to check in.

after rushing, we had another 2 hours.
great.

so after the beers, we felt kinda hungry. so we wanted to eat something fast and good. we saw a burger king sign up ahead, so why not?
i'll tell u why not.

when we reached, the whole place was packed like a can of sardines. and the queues were horrible.
next....

so my dad and i shared a small pizza whereas nick had a plate of chicken curry and rice.
all that of cos, with a bottle of beer each.

after what seemed like next to eternity, we finally boarded the flight.
detail of the flight itself are hazy and disconnected, due to the 3 of us drifting in and out of sleep.

and FINALLY, at 1130, we reached home.
knockout....

went to vivo city yesterday, me and gewi watched pan's labyrinth.
its a really really nice show.
magical, sad, believable if u must, all made even more wondrous by the spanish language spoken in the whole of the film.

=)

Another feast.

this time, of the indian kind.
the gang (me, gewi, sim, dwayne, della, charlene) went to the thomson rd roti prata place to eat tonight and i must say, prata is the last thing on our minds right now..

but first off, abt the aft.
after a yummy lunch of fish porridge, courtesy of my dad, gewi came over and we nuahed till like 5plus. we were supposed to meet the rest of the gang at j8 and bring them over to my palce for a quick visit, so we did. every1 was welcomed by the 3 dogs, some more than others (kekeke)..

after an hour plus of the dogs, we decided to listen to our stomachs and satisfy our hunger. the wait at the prata place was long, but worth the wait.

2 chicken murtabaks,
1 kambing soup,
1 egg & onion prata,
1 kosong prata,
2 egg pratas,
5 plaster pratas,
1 fried chicken piece,
1 fried fish piece,
2 beehoon goreng,
1 beehoon-mee goreng,
2 packets of popadums,
1 sambal chicken,
6 milo dinosaurs,
6 pokka green teas.

song bo!

Reflections and resolutions.

under reflections, i've come to realised that despite spending the majority of the year in brisbane instead of s'pore, the experience was immensly wonderful. the change in environment and culture, both refreshing and exciting at the same time.
i've made new friends over there too, as nice a bunch as those back in sg too.

time really flies. i've been back in june for a month only, so i got to see more people back in sg since this hols. didnt seem like i've seen them 2 sems ago, it felt more like 1. so much has happened, and yet gone so fast like it were only yesterday; my induction into the aussie country, the start of sch, the fun times with the neighbours, our nz hol trip, gewi's grad..
i'll be in bris for another 2 years.. it wont be the same without gewi, no more time spent with each other till the wee hours of the night/morning, no more snuggles, no more kissing her on her cheek as i head off to sch.. i wanna graduate fastly fastly...

ok, i've learnt a few lessons this year, i can't remember them all but i'll list all those i remember so far.

1. Singapore and Aussie culture, is nice to incoporate both but only to a certain degree. saying "thank you!" to a bus driver in aussie may get u a similar greeting and cheers, but in sg it'll only earn u a stare.
2. Singaporean food is best eaten in singapore, not overseas where the concotion is so badly copied.
3. I want to bring the Aussie and New Zealand climate home.
4. Durian, in all it's glorious forms, does not mix well in my stomach with even 1 bottle of beer.
5. I like beer.

ok, for resolutions!

1. Must save up more. more money saved = more allowance = more expenditure opportunity.
2. Get better results for my subsequent sems, must be better than my 2nd sem and more like my 1st sem.
3. Learn to cook more types of food.

hurhur...

it's half past 3 in the morning, and i just got back home...
showered and ready to tuck into bed. =)

been a while since i posted, guess i'll update a lil b4 heading off to lala land.
met up with my fellow primary sch classmates a few days ago, it's been so long since i saw them.. mary, jingni, cindy and shikun. they had a gathering to open the class time capsule and i didnt go cos i was still in brisbane. darn.
anyway, we met up at taka for lunch and they passed me my letter-to-my-future-self.
Goodness.
the stuff i wrote inside there.
i shan't post it up here because if i did, that would mean either i was super drunk/high, or my skin grew to a thickness that would put a whale to shame.
i could literally feel myself shrinking in embarrassment at myself, doh.
hurhur

today was a really tiring day.
i headed to orchard at like 1 plus in the aft, went to have lunch at wisma foodcourt with mei and managed to catch up as well.. it's been a year since we last met, time really flies. we did our usual bout of chatting and gossiping, ha, feels so good to gossip.
geesh. army didnt teach me to be a man.
it taught me to ba a bitch! haha!
how i missed my bitching days in office with terence and daniel.
anyway, we chatted like forever until i had to meet gewi and her cuzzies for dinner, so i went ahead to meet them.
ok ah, 530 met at city hall mrt. went to esplanade to chope seats for a good view.
already so crowded.
so bopian, wait for seat.
after a while, yay! some fella left his seat at the railing seats. so we squeezed into the place.
then, we expanded our terriroty.
and, with the newspapers that yours truly brought (3 stacks of whole straits times newspapers, yes, with classified ads and recruit and the whatnots), we got ourselves a nice picnic place. whee..
onward to dinner!
we tapaoed lots.
orh luat, char kuey tiao, hokkien mee, bbq chicken wings, carrot cake, rojak, stingray (YES!)...
full....

we ate a lil too early, and since it was only 8pm at that time, we decided to partake in a friendly game of uno.

doh.

play and play and play.

until the 1st fireworks was displayed at 10pm.
ten seconds only can!
wapiang!
at the ntuc office building across from the esplanade.
measly ten secs.
tsk.

never mind, we waited for the second one at 11pm.
11 secs!
!@#$%

then all the pple decided to crowd at the railings to get a better look.
nvm, the 1st 2 ended so quick, still want to hang arnd, squeezing and pushing and emitting copious amounts of b.o.

b.o. combo of the day; cigg smoke and bangla bao-u.

buay taham man!
then behind the 6 of us (me, gewi, simeon, dwayne, della and charlene) got 3 beng wannabes from malaysia. smoke and talk cock and leering at us. wth?!
so we bitched abt them openly. and they to us.
like we cared.
ha!

the final fireworks at 1155pm was indeed spectacular. 8 minutes in total non-stop, and with quite a variety of different patterns.
nowhere near those in brisbane but ah well, not bad la.

but to start of with such disappointing pops and to end of in such a big bang, could it be telling us something?
(2006 for s'pore started out like shit, but we finished it with a big bang and in a blaze of glory?)

the worse part of the day.

the crowd.

the place was packed! to the brim. we tried going into city hall mrt to catcha train, packed. so, we headed off to the dhoby line. the roads were congested until like no tmr. seriously.
the cars couldnt move or advance cos of the traffic, which was prb due to the sheer amnts of people walking across the roads like nobody's business.
i could very well say that the cars were as lively as an unconscious monk in the middle of an orgy.

well ok, i did just say it.

so we reached gewi's place, at 230.
we were walking from esplanade to dhoby station for more than an hour.
tsktsktsk.
gewi was tired and not feeling too good, so we sent her home b4 going to a nearby coffeeshop for supper.. mmmmmm....
indian rojak, and sap-kum-mai-fun (fried beehoon, the wet kind)
and we left arnd...... 315?

and know i'm extremely tired and just realised i dozed off on my keyboard again.

ok, heading to bed now, i'll update this post with the pictures if i can then..

Happy 2007 everyone..
=D
